Hi, I'm Devon.

I teach Gregg shorthand to 140,000+ people across Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube — and here's why I started.

Gregg shorthand entered my life halfway through grad school. I needed a faster way to capture ideas during lectures and record thoughts before they disappeared — laptops were inconvenient, and transcription tools felt passive. Writing by hand forced me to think, process, and remember. Shorthand solved the speed problem while keeping those cognitive benefits.

Learning it, though, was unnecessarily hard. I taught myself the way most people still do — piecing together scattered manuals and conflicting explanations from the internet. Gregg shorthand exists in multiple versions, and it's easy to mix them by accident. I restarted more than once and took far longer to get fluent than I should have.

The information existed. What was missing was a clear path — so I built the one I wish I'd had.

What Gregg Shorthand Actually Is

Created by John Robert Gregg, it was the gold standard for fast, efficient writing long before audio recorders and typing existed. Secretaries, journalists, and court reporters relied on it to capture speech in real time — often writing well over 100 words a minute by hand.

It faded when recording technology took over, but the skill itself never got worse. It's still one of the fastest, most elegant ways a person can write — as useful for a college lecture or a journaling habit today as it was in a 1950s courtroom.

How the Course Works

The course moves through three stages, in order — each one builds on the last.

STAGE 1 | Foundations

Learn the full Gregg alphabet and the logic behind it. (The alphabet itself takes about a minute to learn — everything after this is repetition.)

STAGE 2 | Making It Functional

Build recognition through repeated reading and translation practice, so the patterns become automatic before you ever pick up a pen.

STAGE 3 | Writing

Only once reading fluency is solid do you start writing yourself — so you build correct habits from day one instead of speed you have to unlearn later.

Every lesson combines video instruction, a written summary, downloadable practice sheets, and reading exercises — the exact structure I wish existed when I was starting out.
